Three months before he criticized USATF on national television at the US Indoor Championships, Will Leer butted heads with the sport’s governing body at the group’s annual meeting in Indianapolis.  In December, Leer questioned why Lashawn Merritt received the Jesse Owens Award, USATF’s most prestigious honor, for 2013.  Merritt tested positive for a banned substance in 2010 and served a 21-month doping ban.

In an interview on the House of Run podcast, Leer recounts what happened when he raised the issue and the response he received from USATF.
